Java Applet Settings for PC

Welcome to the page describing how to set PC Java applet runtime parameters for JASigning, the software developed at UEA.

To access the JASigning support files, the Library Path for Java Applets
must be updated manually, using the Java Control Panel. The Web browser must be closed and re-launched
for the Library Path update to take effect.
If in doubt, consult an IT expert.

Open the Java Control Panel
For standard Windows XP Start Menu:
From the Start Menu choose Control Panel. Switch to Clasic View. Open the Java Control Panel.
For Classic Start Menu:
From the Start menu choose Settings and then Control Panel. Switch to Clasic View. Open the Java Control Panel.

Open the Java Applet Runtime Settings panel
Select the Java tab.
Click on the View... button under Java Applet Runtime Settings.

Enter Java Runtime Parameters for JASigning
The Java Runtime Settings dialog will
open, shown below. The Runtime Parameters box that we need to set is partially
obscured, and can be exposed by widening the dialog and dragging the list
headers to the left. For a first install, the Runtime Parameters box will probably be empty.
Copy the following line to the clipboard (Ctrl-C):
-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=True -Dsun.java2d.opengl=True -Xms24m -Djava.library.path=C:/Program
Files/eSign/JASigning094
Double click the Runtime Parameters box to make it
editable, and paste the string from the clipboard (Ctrl-V).
Note: If a different install path from the default was
chosen above (Select JASigning Installation Folder) then the path on the
end of this string must be changed accordingly.

Close the Java Control Panel
Choose OK to close the Java Runtime Settings panel.
Choose OK to close the Java Control Panel.
