The Computer Vision Group at UEA consists of two Professors and five Lecturers. We supervise several energetic teams studying problems concerning the representation of images. Recent achievements include the development of a range of novel ideas about colour and its manipulation, a new family of hierarchical image representations called sieves and a wide range of applications including systems in image security, non-photo realistic rendering, colour constancy and many others. We hold a range of international patents and are exploiting our ideas through our own start-up companies. The group has an international reputation and seeks applications from highly motivated and mathematically able students. You will need to be well qualified and prepared to undertake some international travel. Some details about our current research projects can be found on the web pages: www.sys.uea.ac.uk/research/groups/compvis/ and www.colour-research.com. While some of these projects might form the basis of future research we expect students to define their own research direction in conjunction with one our faculty team.
We are happy to communicate with interested candidates by Email or telephone. In the first instance please contact Professor Andrew Bangham or Professor Graham Finlayson.
